Accomplishing a set goal is indeed rewarding. A lot of us, however, miss out on experiencing this because we are afraid that if we set a goal we might not accomplish it, so we don't.
Well, I've just learned that a goal and a risk are the perfect match; at least in my case the combination seems to work. Let me explain...
My hubby and I decided to set a couple of goals for ourselves to accomplish in 30 days. The twist is that we also gave ourselves risks or consequences that would happen if our goals are not met.
One of my goals is to write 8 songs by April 15 (30 days). My risk? Well, it had to be something difficult to face, something I would want to completely avoid, in order to feel pushed to accomplish my goal: absolutely no eating out for a week. This includes giving up the rights to get a latte for an entire week. Yikes!
So, as you can imagine, I've been writing, writing, writing!
So far I have three completed songs and two almost done. I think I'm doing pretty good. I'm actually energized by this whole thing that I might just keep trying it in different areas! I sure love the feeling of getting goals met :)
This works for me, maybe you could try it too! I dare you to set some goals, take some risks and accomplish a whole lot! Don't be scared, just work hard and have fun!
