Lessons from "Hugo"

This past weekend while in beautiful LA, I had the opportunity to go see the movie "Hugo".  For those of you who have no idea which one it is, here's a little synopsis: Set in 1930s Paris, an orphan who lives in the walls of a train station is wrapped up in a mystery involving his late father and an automaton.

Though I reserve the right to think the movie was a bit long, I must say it had some powerful lessons.  So, without spoiling the film for those who have not seen it, here are a few of the lessons I learned:

1 - Everyone has a purpose - I loved it when he said to his new found best friend "Life is like a big clock where every little part has a job and a purpose".  In my own interpretation I would say, no  matter what life has taught you or what others have decided, you too have a purpose designed just for you.  No one else can fulfill it!

2 - Everyone deserves a second chance - He never gave up on the automaton.  God never gives up on us and we should not give up on others or ourselves because everyone who's broken deserves to be fixed (healed/restored).

All in all there's a big plan that involves you and I.  No matter how lost, broken, incapable or capable there's a reason and a purpose why you're alive.

If you pay attention, you'll soon know what that is.

Just a thought.
