Mmm...seasons. Out of sumer, fall, winter and spring, I have to say fall is the one I'd choose. Weather is normally a perfect combination of sun and breeze, trees turn into a variety of colors, holiday plans start occurring, fashion takes a lot more character with the use of boots, hats, light scarves and jackets, anyway... I could keep going. But, what's your favorite? We see the same in our lives as we transition from season to season. Going off to college and then going out into the "real world" to get a job, or being an expecting mom and then having a baby to raise, or being single and then getting to start life in a marriage, or living somewhere for a while and then moving to a new city...you get the idea. Our lives are constantly marked by changes that transition us into a new season. Sometimes those changes throw us off a bit, sometimes those changes are good and well waited for and, other times, the change is drastic and painful. But I'm pretty sure that, at some point or another, we all have experienced change in all its forms. So what helps us navigate through when life seems to be taking yet another turn? Well, I'm no expert, trust me, but I can just share what has worked for me in the past and now, as I start this new season as a wife. Reflecting- Taking time to work through my own feelings and identifying the areas that have changed. In my case, availability, priorities, goals, space, focus, etc... Communicating- (I'm steel growing on this one)- Making those around me aware of my transition and what it means to me and how it might affect them. In my case, sharing my feelings, thoughts, fears, insecurities, ideas, concerns with my husband. Also, making sure my friends and family understand how time might be more limited now, as priorities shift and more responsibilities are added to my plate. Trusting God- Being aware that change is growth and that, in every season, God's hand is there to help me walk it through in the best way. Knowing that He equips us with exactly what we need to be the best we can be and make the impact we are called to make as we walk through each season in our lives. So, it's clear- whatever season you're in will change. When this happens, be encouraged. You will grow and so will your relationship with God, as you seek Him and He guides you through. Your friendships will evolve and mature and your character will surely be developed. |
