Road kill

480 Squirrels die as road kills every week (during the Fall season) as a result of panic…

Today, I actually saw it happen.  It was an awful feeling of helplessness to see her (it) run right into her death.  And you know what? The feeling after it happened was even worse.  I just kept on seeing it over and over again in my mind like a play back, and then it hit me.  I saw myself in the squirrel!

Okay, right about now you must be wondering “what on earth is she smoking and where can I get me some o’ that?”  Well, I’m not smoking anything – it is the truth – I saw myself in the road killed squirrel.  How?  Well, for you to understand my point I’m going to have to explain to you why squirrels die as road kill everyday.

You see, when they find themselves standing in front of or running away from such a large (as they see it) moving object (car), they panic.  They panic and as a result they zigzag in the wrong direction, miss-guessing which way to go simply because they are overtaken by the fear of that object.  And what ends up happening?  They end up running right into the car they were running away from.

Does that ring a bell to you?
So many times we find ourselves making decisions based on our fear of something – fear of rejection, fear of getting hurt, or even fear of making the wrong decision and at the end we end up running towards what were running away from, and what we feared ends up happening.

So the question is how can we avoid being overtaken by fear?  How can we make good decisions that will benefit us at the end instead of hurting us or even killing us in any particular area of our lives?

We need to remain cool, calm and collected and bring our decisions to the one who's got us.  That's right...God! He's got the best view of the overall picture that is our lives and can see which way we should go and what we should do.

Plain and simple... He's got us!

So next time, let's avoid being road kill by running straight into His arms.

Peace,
Milca
